This unusual cottage is part of a beautiful Breton farmhouse. It retains many original features, the most spectacular of which is the "torelle" or tower on the first floor.
There is a well equipped fitted corner kitchen with fridge, gas cooker and microwave. The room also features an open fireplace. There is no washing machine but the owner who lives on site will gladly wash and dry clothes at no extra cost.
An attractive wooden staircase leads to a large carpeted landing off of which is a double bedroom with high ceiling and exposed beams and A-frames. Also on this floor is a large bathroom with bath and shower attachment.
Leading to the mezzanine on the second floor is a magnificent stone spiral stairway set in the tower. The mezzanine has an attractive bedroom with a double and single bed.
The property is set on a modern, clean, well-managed farm - there are no heaps of manure or muddy paths, only well-tended lawns and flowerbeds and two very attractive farm buildings adjacent to the house. The cottage has a private patio with a barbecue and furniture provided, overlooking lovely countryside and to the rear a beautiful lawn looking onto woodland.
The charming riverside village of St Nicholas des Eaux is only 5 minutes drive away and here you will find hotel restaurants, creperies, riverside bars and cafes. The towpath walk is scenically attractive and canoes and cycles can be hired to explore further.
Plumeliau, 7 kms distant has two good supermarkets, boulangeries, banks and post office, whilst Pontivy 12 kms away has a larger variety of shops, restaurants and places to visit.
There are swimming pools in Baud and Pontivy. Sporting activities such as golf, riding, fishing and tennis are within a few kilometres drive. Lake Guerledan, about 35 kms, has a safe beach for children to play and swim from; water sports; picnic areas and interesting historical sites.
The south coast is 45 minutes drive and the historic market towns of Pontivy, Vannes, and Josselin are well worth a visit. Inland Brittany has much to offer - scenically beautiful, with many interesting historical sites, attractive towns and sporting activities.
Electricity and gas are included in the rent. Pillows and blankets are provided and linen can be hired. The French owners live on site and will gladly be of help if needed or keep a discreet distance.
